Automakers on Facebook … not a good match … yet!

Inside Facebook came up with some interesting figures on the automotive brands on Facebook. Porsche as a number one is not a surprise but the complete absence of brands like Ferrari and Mercedes is a bit surprising. The reason for this is that they are present on Facebook, but the pages are non-official. Does this mean that they have no social media strategy?

Interesting is also that Nissan is present! But unfortunately it’s Nissan Malaysia. I’m sure Nissan Europe can beat. It’s not that hard, they only have a bit more than 2000 fans.

  2. The question is who wants to be top of this list? What does it show?

The top is always going to be a brand level site not a model, but that doesn’t mean a social media strategy at brand level rather than by model is the right answer.

Also to have regions competing against one another doesn’t make sense – why be a fan of Nissan Malaysia specifically rather than just Nissan (unless you work there…)

Maybe there are more important things than “most fans on official pages”
