Reasons people ‘Unlike’ Brands on Facebook

We know the reasons why people “like” a brand. I guess we got to the next phase where in Facebook-marketing, where we start to see people “unlike” the brands they previously liked.

Penn Olson gives us a nice overview of the main reasons why they”unlike” brands.

The interesting part is that the 3 main reasons they “unlike” are not linked to the reasons to “like”. After that, it’s a bit like the contest-effect in a previous era of digital marketing, where people subscribed to a newsletter in order to win in a contest and unsubscribed as soon a the contest is over…

My feeling is that the phases between “traditional digital marketing” and “social media marketing” are quite similar with the only difference that the time between the phases is hugely reduced.

Agencies will have to be even more creative than before…
